The city of Los Angeles has more than 320 days of sunshine per year with average temperatures of 66 °F (19 °C) in downtown. January and February are the coldest and rainiest days of the year with temperatures that range between 59 °F to 73 °F (15 to 23 °C). Snowfall is extremely rare in the city basin, but the mountains within city limits typically receive snowfall every winter. The warmest month is August and temperatures can reach from 78 °F to 90 °F (26 to 32 °C).
As a whole almost anything goes in the City of Angels – casual clothes for everyday strolls around the city and dressy clothing for more formal events. Because of the mild weather in Los Angeles, loose shirts, shorts, skirts, dark jeans or pants are very suitable. Despite this, warmer clothing (e.g. a sweater or light jacket) will come in handy at almost any time of the year, even on summer evenings, when it is cool.
Flat shoes, sandals or flip-flops should be packed because they make walking around the vast city a bit easier. High heels are recommended for visiting Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
Sunglasses, a comfortable handbag and a trendy scarf as well as other fashionable accessories are a must in Los Angeles.
