There is only a bus system as public transport in Santorini. There are seven bus routes. The main bus station is situated in Fira near the main square. KTEL Busses run the daily routes to almost all destinations on the island.
The cable car travels from Fira harbor up to the town of Fira.

Transport from/to the airport in Santorini
The military and civil airport of Santorini is Santorini (Thíra) National airport. Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air operate flights from “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport in Athens to the island. The flying time Athens-Santorini is approximately 30-40 minutes. There are charter flights from Europe, too, especially in summer. Bus, shuttle and taxi services facilitate the transfers of visitors along the island.
The island of Santorini has two ports. Athinios port (the new port) is for ferries and commercial boats. Skala Pier (the old port) is for cruise ships. There are daily, regular ferry boat services from the port of Piraeus or Crete (and from almost all the Cycladic islands during summer).
Only in summer there are daily high speed boats available from the port of Piraeus and from numerous other Cycladic islands and Crete to Santorini.
The municipality of Santorini has opened recently a great number of free parking lots within short walking distance around all most visted places like Fira centre , Kamari beach , Oia and the excavations in Akrotiri.
