This is the motto of the Bulgarian capital – Sofia. The city is old and its history spans 2,400 years.
Nowadays the town is the largest administrative, economic and financial centre in Bulgaria with a population of about 1 300 000 residents.
The city is also one of the cultural and educational centres in the country. It houses some of the biggest Bulgarian state and private universities as well as it is a preferred place for staging numerous music, theatrical, sports and other events.
Sofia has become a good tourist destination recently and the number of the visitors to the city has been increasing lately mainly because of the city’s wonderful location (at the foot of Mount Vitosha) and its both ancient ruins and historic buildings of more modern times.
