Scotland_Aberdeen_1Aberdeen is the third most populous Scottish city with rich history dating back to the settlement of the prehistoric villages between and around the mouths of the rivers Don and the Dee.

The city has always been Scotland’s strongest industrial heritage. In the past traditional industries in the town were fishing, paper-making, shipbuilding, and textiles.

But soon after the discovery of North Sea Oil  in the 1970s, oil industry overtook them all and since then the town has been nicknamed as the “Oil Capital of Europe“.

Aberdeen is also the educational centre of the north-east. It has two universities – the ancient University of Aberdeen, and The Robert Gordon University.
