Originally it was established as a Viking settlement that expanded through the centuries to become the city it is now – a rapidly growing economic and financial centre, cultural and tourist destination.

Dublin plays an active role in the Literary and Movie World and has a rich tradition in it with celebrated natives such as the writers George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce , Oscar Wilde and Bram Stoker and prominent Hollywood actors like Maureen O’Hara, Brendan Gleeson, Gabriel Byrne and Colin Farrell.

The city is also home to many of Ireland’s  famous musicians and bands, most notable being the Dubliners, Thin Lizzy, Sinead O’Connor and U2.
